Introducing eeva’s Mini-Interview Series!

We’re thrilled to kick off our mini-interview series at eeva, where we bring you candid insights from industry leaders juggling careers, home lives, and everything in between. Our goal? To learn from those who’ve faced the same challenges and come out the other side with a little extra wisdom (and sometimes funny anecdotes) to share.

We’re so excited to kick off the series with none other than Jeanine Hage, Founder, CEO, Mother, and all-around powerhouse, who shared her insights on work-life balance, valuable life lessons, and the reality of managing a household.

About Jeanine

A Founder and CEO, Jeanine Hage has built and exited two successful companies in the high-tech industry, drawing on her extensive experience and international career. Both her personal and professional lives are deeply shaped by change. Having experienced changes with a seismic impact, she navigates them with boldness and courage.

An advocate of critical thinking,  she is a hard believer that at the heart of every business, lies the human factor. People work with people; the rest is a means to an end. A public speaker, she has participated in numerous panels across Canada and the United States, focusing on Women Leadership, Women in High tech, Girls in STEM and Transformation Management in big organizations.

Jeanine is also a twice Women of Influence Nominee by RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneurs Award and a Nominee for the award of Small Enterprise Entrepreneur by the Quebec Business Women's Network.

How do you handle it all? Like, how do you maintain balance between your demanding career, your personal life, and your home life?

Jeanine doesn’t sugarcoat it—perfect balance doesn’t exist! For her, balance is more about giving each area of her life the attention it needs in its own time.

"Some days work demands more, while other days, I get more time for family or myself. Balance isn’t about doing everything at once; it’s about making sure each part of my life gets the attention it needs over time."

Jeanine lives by her to-do lists—one for work, one for her son, and one for her home. She believes in tackling just three top priorities a day. “If you have 15 priorities,” she says, “you don’t have a real priority.” It’s this mindset that keeps her both focused and effective.

And as a true planner, she’s tackled home management with a spreadsheet full of service contacts for when things need fixing. But, it doesn’t quite do the trick. “It’s costly,” she explains, “when a technician needs to come back because I couldn’t remember a serial number!” It’s one of those hidden frustrations that home managers know all too well… and one that eeva can fix.

What career lessons have helped you in your personal life?

For Jeanine, her career has reinforced the importance of time—not just as a resource but as a gift. In her words:

"In business, we say ‘Time is Money.’ In my personal life, Time is Presence and Love."

She recalls leaving dishes unwashed to sit with her young son, who wanted her attention. “I would leave what I was doing and sit down to watch The Lion King for the 14th time that week.” Why? Because she gives her personal time to the things that really matter. And, of course, her negotiation skills come in handy—whether in boardrooms or in convincing her 4-year-old that their pet cat probably doesn’t want to learn how to swim!

But Jeanine’s biggest takeaway? Delegation. “Women, especially moms, sometimes feel they have to do it all, like Wonder Woman, surviving on a river of coffee.” She’s learned that letting go and asking for help is as much a strength as doing it all herself!

What’s the biggest misconception about managing a household?

It’s common to think home management is straightforward, but Jeanine sets the record straight: it’s anything but!

"People think it’s easy to handle, or even that women enjoy it. We do it because it has to be done.”

Jeanine believes that shifting from “handling it all” to “managing it together” is key. She emphasizes teamwork, delegation, and the role technology plays in centralizing information and simplifying routines. “‘Together’ includes technology, easy access to centralized information, and smart tools that help with the planning and the priorities.” Sounds like we’re really onto something with eeva!
